The Effect of Motion Picture Therapy Program on the Self-esteem, Interpersonal Relations and Problem Solving Abilities of the Patients with Chronic Schizophrenia

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to suggest the psychiatric nursing intervention that helps the recovery, relapse prevention, and social readjustment of the hospitalized patients with chronic schizophrenia by evaluating the effect of motion picture therapy program.

Method: The subjects were the patients with chronic schizophrenia who were hospitalized in the H mental hospital situated in the H county. 40 patients participated (experimental group 20, control group 20), but 4 of the experimental group dropped out. The data were analyzed by percentage, ¥ö©÷-test, Kolmogorov - Smirnov test, paired t-test and t-test using SPSS 12.0 version.

Result: Motion picture therapy program turned out to be an effective nursing intervention for improving the self-esteem and interpersonal relations of the patient with chronic schizophrenia. Therefore motion picture therapy program will be used for the recovery, relapse prevention, and social readjustment of the patients with chronic schizophrenia
